220015 – Yellow Relic with B Bender

  • Yellow Relic with B Bender

This guitar was put together from parts. Some are new, some I had laying around, and some parts I made myself. Fender yellow body has a not-so-great relic job. I like it, but it might not be your cup of tea. The neck has been played but is in good shape. Decent “C” profile to it, but not a massively thick “club” style. Neck is an old MIM Squire with a maple fingerboard. Tuners were on the neck when I found it. No name on them, but they’re the old Kluson type. Standard Tele setup: 2 pickups and 3-position switch.

A hot P-90 single coil soapbar pickup in the neck position, along with a sealed and waxed generic Alnico 3 Tele bridge pickup with its classic Tele sound. I love the combination of a Tele bridge pickup with a P-90 neck pickup. They really compliment each other, and this guitar honks. Old style Tele ashtray bridge & solid brass saddles.

B-bender device is one of my earlier prototypes. It’s a cam type that sits behind the B string, in the bridge. No routing on the guitar’s back, as in the Parsons/White style benders. Though it’s one of my older prototype benders, it is very smooth and positive. Easy to adjust the tuning when restringing. The guitar is lightweight, at just under 6 pounds.

This is one of those sleeper guitars that doesn’t look like much, but can really deliver the goods.
