About this guitar:
This is truly a “parts guitar”, made from various items I had laying around, with a face that only a mother could love.
It has FOUR PICKUPS (count ’em…), along with a plethora of various switches and knobs that make them work. From top to bottom (neck to bridge), the pickups are:
— Wilkinson Tele Style neck single coil
— Strat style middle pickup
— FilterTron single coil humbucker
— Wilkinson Tele style bridge pickup
The four ON/OFF switches toggle each pickup on and off.
The two small toggle switches switch the phase on the to middle pickups
Master volume and tone knobs
You can switch each pickup on/off, to get all sorts of different tones from this guitar. The two phase switches add even more possibilities. Surprisingly, all those gadgets are pretty easy to figure out and use. You can dial in any sort of pickup combination and do all sorts of nonsense with this thing. Be warned: this guitar is not for the timid!
The installed B-bender works smoothly and is easy to tune. The guitar is light weight, approx. 6.25 lbs (3 kg). It has a mahogany neck that I had, which was probably made in Japan or China. It is fairly flat (12″ radius) and is smooth to play. Comes with sealed tuners.
The body was a beatup old Tele–likely a Squire. The lower horn has been sawed off. The collected parts on this guitar could tell you a few stories, I think. It has a few scuffs and blemishes, as any road-worn instrument would. This guitar can cover a lot of ground. When a guitar picker says, “I’m just in it for the romance,” this guitar is what he’s talking about.
B Benders aren’t for everyone, but if you’re a guitar player who wants to step away from the crowd, this one’s worth checking out. Thanks for looking, and I’ll try to answer any questions you have.
