Another Flutney Partscaster with B Bender installed. This Blue Metalflake coloured guitar comes with a grey tortoise coloured pickguard that surrounds a “Nashville” Tele setup with 3 pickups and 5-position switch. Features include maple neck and fingerboard, and sealed Fender tuners. You’ll notice that I replaced the original brass saddle on the E/B strings with a steel one. This is because the B string tends to cut into the soft brass saddles with the Bender unit. I purposely left the other two brass saddles on a whim because I think it makes the guitar even more unique.
The parts come from an old Fender Squire (MIM), some Chinese parts and other American parts I had laying around. It’s a sweet little guitar that plays and sounds pretty much the way you’d expect (except for the B Bender! ). The P-90 center pickup really honks, and and the 5-way switch lets you combine pickups in cool ways.
Features:
— Alnico 3 neck pickup
— P-90 single coil with mesh in center position
— Hot Alnico 5 bridge pickup
— 5-position switch and control plate
B-Bender mechanism works smoothly and it’s easy to tune when restringing. This is a very clean guitar, but has a few minor checks and small scratches in the finish (doesn’t affect playability). Maple neck has a modern feel – round, but not quite as round as an older vintage neck. The fretboard has a slightly flatter radius than the older Teles. It’s a solid guitar and plays great.
This one is lightweight, at approx 6.5 lbs (3 kg). No hard-sell… you either like it or you don’t. B Benders are not for everyone, but if you’re a guitar picker who wants to head away from the crowd, you might want to check them out.
If you know about B-benders, you already know how cool this guitar is. If you don’t know about B-benders, check ’em out. I’m selling these prototypes in NZ only. I don’t make very many, so you won’t see many of them around.
